Juanjo Mena will make his Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut in January. The Spanish conductor is replacing the Canadian Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who has cancelled his appearances for personal reasons.

The program, to be performed Jan. 13-16 remains the same, offering Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, Pathetique, Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales and Korngold’s Violin Concerto with soloist Renaud Capuçon.

Mena, 46, was recently appointed chief conductor of the BBC Philharmonic and is also principal guest conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway and the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
