Chicago’s 2011-2012 music season doesn’t begin in earnest until next week, but there are still noteworthy events on tap the next few days. In addition to the ongoing Beethoven Festival marathon (see Calendar), the Rembrandt Chamber Players will open their 22nd season Sunday with a choice lineup of vocal and chamber works.

Soprano Christine Brandes will join the ensemble for two 20th-century song cycles: Dominick Argento’s Elizabethan Songs and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Blake Songs. The program will also include Schubert’s Trout Quintet as well as the Schubert song, Die forelle, which inspired one of its movements.

Performances are 3 p.m. Sunday at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston and 7:30 pm. Monday at the Driehaus Museum in Chicago. rembrandtchamberplayers.org; 312-360-3145.
