The North Shore Chamber Music Festival made an impressive bow last year and opens its second season tonight. The husband-and-wife festival founders, violinist Vadim Gluzman and pianist Angela Yoffe, will be joined by the Pacifica String Quartet and other artists for the opening program featuring Bartok’s Violin Rhapsody No. 1, Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132, Mendelssohn’s Octet, and Alan Ridout’s Ferdinand the Bull for violin, with Henry Fogel as narrator.

Concert time is 7:30 p.m. at the Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Road in Northbrook. The festival continues with varied programs Friday and Saturday. nscmf.org; 847-370-3984.
