CSO names new contrabassoon

Miles Maner

Music director Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra have appointed Miles Maner as the orchestra’s new contrabassoon/bassoon, effective immediately.

Maner has served as associate principal bassoon/contrabassoon with the Kansas City Symphony since 2010. He also performs as principal bassoon of the Breckenridge Music Festival in Colorado.

Prior to his Kansas City position, Maner served as principal bassoon in the Victoria (Texas) Symphony. Maner received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and his master’s degree at Rice University.
