The Takács Quartet has canceled next month’s Ravinia appearances.

The ensemble was slated to perform the complete quartets of Bela Bartok August 5 and 6, but bowed out due to an unnamed Takács member’s extended recovery from recent surgery.

Refunds will be automatically processed via the original purchase method, said a Ravinia spokesman.

Darn, I really wanted to hear them play Bartok. I’ll console myself with memories of the Linden Quartet’s excellent concert at Ravinia last night.
