The Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s season-opening concert will take place tonight as scheduled under Riccardo Muti, said a CSO spokeswoman, even though management and musicians have not yet agreed on a new contract.

The existing contract between CSO members and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association expired at midnight Sunday. Since then the musicians have rehearsed and will perform Thursday’s concert.

Negotiations are continuing between the Chicago Federations of Musicians and CSO negotiating committee members and CSOA. The orchestra is scheduled to perform a free concert at Millennium Park Friday night.
