It’s been 15 years since the Cleveland Orchestra last visited Chicago. A 2011 concert had to be cancelled when the ensemble was stranded in Michigan due to an epic Chicago snowstorm.

Long regarded as one of the top five American orchestras, the celebrated Clevelanders will come to Chicago this weekend for their first appearance since 2002, led by Franz Welser-Möst. The orchestra’s Austrian music director will lead a meat-and-potatoes program offering Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 and Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2. Concert time is 8 p.m. Saturday at Symphony Center. cso.org; 312-294-3000.
