The Lyric Opera is closing its season with Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, which will open Sunday afternoon at the Civic Opera House.
Mariusz Kwiecień will return to Chicago to portray one of his signature roles, the title character in Tchaikovsky’s tragic romance. Ana Maria Martinez costars as Tatyana, with Charles Castronovo as Lensky and Alisa Kolosova as Olga. Alejo Perez conducts, in a staging by Robert Carsen, a production that originated at the Met.
Eugene Onegin opens 2 p.m. Sunday and runs through March 20. lyricopera.org; 312-827-5600.
