The Lyric Opera of Chicago will open its season Saturday night as scheduled, with Puccini’s La Boheme.

Despite Lyric not reaching consensus on expired contracts with both the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Lyric Opera Chorus, the Chicago Federation of Musicians has not called for a strike that would imperil the start of the company’s season.

Both sides continue to be tight-lipped, with a CFM official only saying Friday night that they were “still in negotiations.”

A Lyric spokeswoman stated in an email Saturday morning, “There will be a performance tonight.”
