The stars of Lyric Opera will shine more brightly than usual at this fall’s preview concert.

Renée Fleming, the Lyric’s new creative consultant, will be the headliner at the annual “Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park” concert.

“I’m so pleased to be singing for the first time in Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion, one of our country’s great architectural symbols,” said the soprano in a statement released by the Lyric late Wednesday. “It’s a thrill to share this wonderful Lyric tradition with my colleagues and members of the Ryan Opera Center as we kick off an exciting season of culture in Chicago.”

The free concert, to take place 7:30 p.m. September 10, will also include performances by tenor Matthew Polenzani, bass-baritone James Morris, sopranos Anna Christy and Susanna Phillips, mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, and baritone Ljubomir Purkaric.

Program details are yet to be announced but will likely focus on selections from this season’s repertoire. French conductor Emmanuel Villaume will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra.

The Lyric Opera’s season opens October 1 with Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann. lyricopera.org; 312-332-2244
