The Lyric Opera of Chicago raised $500,000 during last Saturday’s “Operathon” fund-raising drive on WFMT.

This year’s 32nd annual radio drive raised a record-breaking amount of money, exceeding the $425,000 goal, said the company in a released statement.

“We are deeply grateful to our friends at WFMT for making OPERATHON possible for more than three decades,” said Anthony Freud, Lyric’s general director. “It is an outstanding collaboration.

All proceeds support the Lyric Opera’s education and community-engagement programs. The Lyric’s overall fundraising goal for 2011-12 is $20.6 million.

Is it too late to order from the operathon catalog and if not, is it on line?
