The Lyric Opera appears to have solved its choral problems for the rest of this season following the abrupt resignation of Martin Wright last month.

Ian Robertson, chorus director of San Francisco Opera since 1987, will serve as the Lyric’s guest chorus master beginning December 11 and will oversee the company’s upcoming productions of La boheme, Die Meistersinger, and Rigoletto. General director Anthony Freud issued a statement thanking SFO’s chief David Gockley, for releasing Robertson to help out the Lyric this season. Martin Wright, the company’s newly hired chorus master, resigned in November after just three months on the job.

In other news, the Lyric has announced the promotion of production and technical director Drew Landmesser to the newly created position of deputy general director. Also controller Brent Fisher, will take over as director of finance. Both appointments are effective January 1, 2013, and a result of the retirement of Richard Dowsek, Lyric’s director of administration and finance for the past 32 years.
