Yuja Wang

Yuja Wang possesses one of the most awesome techniques of any pianist currently before the public. Yet her appearances tend to divide critical and public opinion, with some viewing her performances as all speed and flash with little else.

Chicago concertgoers can decide for themselves when the 26-year-old pianist returns to town this week to perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Conductor Sakari Oramo will also lead the CSO in Brett Dean’s Amphitheatre and Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 5.

Performances are 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (minus the Dean work), 8 p.m. Thursday, 1:30 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday. cso.org; 312-294-3000.
