Tonight’s opening concert of the Grant Park Music Festival has been cancelled.

The festival announced shortly before 6 p.m. that because of severe weather conditions the City of Chicago has cancelled all outdoor events in Millennium Park, including the opening night program featuring conductor Carlos Kalmar and the Grant Park Orchestra.

The next scheduled program for the Grant Park Music Festival will take place Friday night.

On the Grant Park Music Festival’s tight schedule, there’s no time or opportunity to resked. The Barber-Copland-Prokofiev weekend program will go on as scheduled.
