The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will continue its venturesome mix in the 2014-15 season with music director David Danzmayr leading seven concerts at the ensemble’s home in south suburban Frankfort and a three-concert series in Joliet. Danzmayr will continue his commitment to American repertory with a homegrown work on every program.

CSO principal percussionist Cynthia Yeh will perform Anders Koppel’s Marimba Concerto No. 1 on May 30. Other soloists include soprano Kathrin Danzmayr and bass-baritone David Govertsen in excerpts from Gordon Getty’s opera Plump Jack (November 14); Lisa Smirnova in Friedrich Gulda’s piano concerto, Concerto for Myself (October 18); and Bella Hristova in Brahms’ Violin Concerto (January 17).

American works programmed include music by Aaron Jay Kernis, William Grant Still, Gabriela Lena Frank, John Cage, John Adams and Lee Actor. Also to be heard next season will be Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5; Brahms’ Symphony No. 3; Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1; Mahler’s Symphony No. 5; Elgar’s Enigma Variations; and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 12.

There will also be a weeklong artist residency with Project Trio.
