Keith Buncke has been named principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, replacing David McGill who retired last summer.
Currently principal of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the 21-year-old Oregon native was appointed to the ASO last spring while still a student at the Curtis Institute. Buncke assumed his Atlanta duties just two months ago due to the prolonged lockout with Atlanta Symphony musicians over a contract dispute.
