Founded by Randall West and Brian Baxter in 2010, the Chicago Composers Orchestra has done yeoman work promoting contemporary symphonic music with a special emphasis on composers living in Chicago.

Guest conductor Chris Ramaekers and the CCO will team up with the Tsukasa Taiko drumming ensemble Friday night for two world premieres: Randall West’s Tokei and Jenna Lyle’s intriguingly titled And in doing so, she very nearly lost her will to do it in the first place. The program also includes Elbio Barilari’s Concerto Tropicalis and Paul Rudy’s Seven Spiritual Laws of Life.

The concert takes place 8 p.m. Friday at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. chicagocomposersorchestra.org
