Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians have reached a tentative agreement with CSO management on a new contract through federal mediators.

A statement released shortly before midnight Monday by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service stated that the CSO and the Chicago Federation of Musicians had come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement. Details will not be released until it is ratified by musicians, said a CSO spokeswoman.

The specter of a musicians’ strike has hovered over the first two weeks of the CSO season. The Chicago Symphony musicians have rehearsed and performed concerts without a contract since the previous agreement expired September 15.
