There is no longer a respite between the fall and summer music seasons and the month of June has a surprising amount of varied activity.

Among which is the North Shore Chamber Music Festival. Founded six years ago by the married team of violinist Vadim Gluzman and pianist Angela Yoffe, the weeklong festival opens Wednesday night with a typically well-balanced lineup offering Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 1, Dvorak’s Piano Quintet No. 2, and Lera Auerbach’s Violin Sonata No. 2.

The festival continues Friday night with music of Bach, Schubert and Shostakovich and closes Saturday with works of Bruch, Popper and others.

All performances take place 7:30 p.m. at Village Presbyterian Church in Northbrook. nscmf.org; 847-370-3984.
