The Grant Park Music Festival announced late Tuesday that Wednesday night’s season-opening concert has been cancelled due to a musicians strike.

Earlier in the day, musicians of the Grant Park Orchestra voted to reject a three-year contract offered by the Grant Park Orchestral Association, said the festival in a statement.  The previous agreement expired May 31. The festival said negotiations have been ongoing for seven weeks.
