The Pacifica Quartet held the post of ensemble in residence at the University of Chicago for 17 years until being replaced by the Imani Winds in 2016.

The popular group will return to Mandel Hall Friday night for a UC Presents program spotlighting two of the composers in whose music Pacifica is especially renown. The program will lead off with Mozart’s String Quartet in D minor, K.421, and continue with Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 3 and Beethoven’s”Razumovsky” String Quartet in C major, Op, 59, no.3.
