Music of the Baroque will close its season in epic fashion with Georg Phillip Telemann’s The Day of Judgment, which not been performed by MOB in 25 years, since founder Thomas Wikman led the last performances in 1992 (later issued on recording).
Telemann’s ambitious oratorio is cast in four “Contemplations,” painting the storms and earthquakes of Judgment Day and the course to ultimate salvation, with chorus and soloists who take on the roles of Unbelief, Reason, Religion, and Devotion.
Jane Glover leads performances of The Day of Judgment 7:30 p.m. Sunday at North Shore Performing Arts Center in Skokie and 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Harris Theater. baroque.org
