Soprano Erin Wall has withdrawn from Lyric Opera’s March performances of Charles Gounod’s Faust to undergo chemotherapy, the company announced Thursday.

In a statement released by Lyric, company CEO and general director Anthony Freud wished her well and said that “her doctors expect a full recovery within a few months, according to her manager.” Wall, an alumna of the company’s Ryan Opera Center, has performed at Lyric Opera many times, most recently as Antonia in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann in 2011.

Ailyn Pérez will replace Wall in the role of Marguerite, singing six performances March 3-18. As previously scheduled, Ana María Martínez will sing the final performance on March 21.
