The Chicago Symphony Orchestra managed to cut its lingering deficit to just under $1 million in fiscal year 2018.
With operating revenues of $72.7 million and operating expenses of $73.7 million, the CSO Association reported an operating deficit of $900,000 for the 2017-18 season, in financials released last week. That gets the shortfall—$1.4 million in 2017— under $1 million for the first year since Riccardo Muti began his CSO tenure in 2011.
