Riccardo Muti kicks off the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s season-long survey of the complete Beethoven symphonies this week. Marking the composer’s 250th birthday anniversary year, the first program offers the Symphony No. 1 and Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.” Beethoven’s Consecration of the House Overture opens the program. Lyric Opera opens its 65th season with Rossini’s Barber of Seville, 6 p.m. Saturday and running through October 27. Adam Plachetka takes the title role of Figaro, the wily title barber, with Lawrence Brownlee as Count Almaviva and local favorite Marianne Crebassa as Rosina. Andrew Davis conducts. lyricopera.org.
