What are the odds of two groups named after the same Greek god performing locally within 48 hours?

Apollo’s Fire, led by artistic director Jeannette Sorrell, returns Thursday night with “O Jerusalem! – Crossroads of Three Faiths,” a program presenting music from Jewish, Christian and Muslim sources. The Evanston event will mark the beginning of a “semi-annual” residency at Northwestern University for the Cleveland-based, period-instrument orchestra.

Concert time is 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Northwestern University’s Galvin Recital Hall. apollosfire.org

The Apollo Chorus is marking the Lenten season Saturday night with a performance of Bach’s St. John Passion. Stephen Alltop will conduct Chicago’s venerable 148-year-old ensemble in Bach’s dramatic Eastertide oratorio, with tenor Steven Soph as the Evangelist, soprano Bahareh Poureslami, countertenor Ryan Belongie, tenor Ryan Townsend Strand, and bass Kyle Jensen.
