Riccardo Muti returned to CSO rehearsals Sunday for this week’s season-ending performances of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera after testing negative for Covid-19 on two consecutive days this weekend. He also tested negative today and continued with the scheduled Monday afternoon rehearsal.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra music director tested positive for Covid last Thursday and had to withdraw from the weekend’s CSO concerts with Anne-Sophie Mutter.

“He is in good health and good spirts and looking forward to this week’s CSO program,” said the orchestra in a statement on Monday.

The CSO concert performances of Verdi’s opera begin Thursday night and run through June 28. cso.org
