University of Chicago Presents opens its season Friday night with the belated local debut of Apollo’s Fire. Founded in 1992 by harpsichordist-conductor Jeannette Sorrell, the acclaimed Cleveland-based period-instrument ensemble will present “Bach’s Coffeehouse,” a program of Baroque favorites. The lineup includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 4 and 5, Vivaldi’s La Folia, the Chaconne from Handel’s Terpsichore, and selections from Telemann’s Don Quixote Suite. The Civitas Ensemble participated in last weekend’s Ear Taxi Festival, but the group opens its season proper with a diverting Czech program Sunday at Ganz Hall. Violinists Matous Michal and Simon Michal and hornist Oto Carrillo will join their CSO colleagues in Bohuslav Martinů’s Quartet, H. 315, Leoš Janáček ’s String Quartet No. 1, “The Kreutzer Sonata,” and Zdeněk Fibich’s Quintet, Op. 42.
